Delphine Art Studio – Picture Framing Specialists

Thame and Aylesbury’s leading bespoke picture framing specialists & Creative Hub for Thame.

What’s New?

You’ve been using our bespoke quality picture framing services in Thame and Aylesbury for the past thirty years. And we’re delighted to announce that Delphine Art is now under new ownership. The long history of quality picture framing is here to stay, as is the fantastic Delphine Art team, Anne and Kwok. Our new look boutique framing consultation area opens in Thame in mid-February and we just can’t wait to see you there.  Plus, to build upon the success of years of picture framing, we’re designing a new creative hub in our Thame location. The creative hub will be a centre for art & creativity for the young and old of Thame and the surrounding villages.

Quality Bespoke Picture Framing

We’re the only picture framers in Thame and Aylesbury who are members of the Fine Art Guild. Which means we take extra special care of your art in our hands. Our experienced framer has been trained by art conservationists. He has the skills to protect and preserve your art work during the framing process. We use only the finest materials, which includes acid free backings and adhesives to preserve your artwork. We can frame your original pieces of art work, as well as prints, photographs, medals and memorabilia. We also offer a gift wrapping service if your framing is for a present for someone special.

Art Studio & Cafe – Opening May 2018

You can use the art studio for all kinds of creative art sessions. We provide the materials, space and, if you need them, some ideas and stimulation. Sessions can be short, from 45 minutes,-  or can be booked in blocks. Some days will be dedicated to children’s creative projects, and other days will be just for adults (children over 13 years of age are welcome). You can also attend our children’s and adults’ art workshops with full tutor support.  For full details of the art studio and how to book will be available soon. Our new art cafe will open in May 2018 so you’ll also be able to have a freshly brewed cup of coffee or tea.

Are you looking for quality, bespoke picture framing?

Are you an artist, or budding artist, looking for a space to exhibit or just create your works?

Then we can help.

Delphine Art started in 1985 in Cambridge Street, Aylesbury by Delphine Beecham. Ten years later the business expanded to an additional shop in Park Street, Thame, before a few years later, moving again to larger premises in Upper High Street, Thame.  Now over thirty years since they first opened their doors it’s time for Delphine Art to morph again.

The original owner has now taken her well-earned retirement and a new owner, Lisa Norgate-Barnes, is looking forward to building upon the great success of the picture framing business. Lisa and her team are keen to continue providing outstanding picture framing expertise. The Thame store will undergo a few changes over the coming months with, a new boutique style framing shop opening in mid-February. Plus, Thame’s first and only Creative Hub and Art Cafe opens in May 2018.

Our Aim

To provide a warm, welcoming environment to create and showcase art for all abilities.

The Team

Anne has been with Delphine Art for over 25 years. There’s not much about framing that Anne doesn’t know. Our customers value her input and guidance when choosing mounts and frames. She has an uncanny eye for colour and will immediately know what will suit a piece of art work. She also has an uncanny knack for knowing all of our moulding codes off by heart!

Our framer, Kwok, pretty much joined us straight from school. Now, with nearly thirty years of framing under his belt, there is nothing he hasn’t seen when it comes to framing. Kwok has incredible attention to detail. His art, whilst taking a great amount of care, is to enhance and protect your art work and pictures so you get years of enjoyment from them.

Lisa Norgate-Barnes might be new to the framing business but she’s not new to running successful small businesses. As a serial entrepreneur Lisa wants to focus on creating something special within the community she lives in. Her idea of a creative hub for Thame developed from a recent project she worked on with The Art Room. The Art Room is an Oxfordshire based charity which provides art therapy to help children experiencing emotional difficulties to thrive.

Lisa says ” Picture framing is all about the preservation and enhancement of images and items you love to look at. Working with The Art Room I could see how the process of creating something develops a person’s emotional well-being. Creating a hub for Thame around that concept, where people of all ages can come along and create something in different forms and mediums, really appealed to me. The framing side of things compliments the studio and the cafe will give the studio a warm welcoming atmosphere. I really can’t wait to see how it all develops.”

Our Nominated Charity

During Lisa’s time working with The Art Room she has seen first-hand how valuable the services they provide can be, making a difference to children who experience sereve emotional difficulties. Delphine Art Studio will be running a series of events throughout the year to raise as much as we can to support the three Art Rooms located in Oxfordshire.

Picture Framing is at the heart of our business and it’s how it all started. As experienced picture framers there’s not much we haven’t already framed! We’ll work with you to choose the perfect mount and moulding which will really enhance your picture. We have a large stock of mouldings and mounts to choose from at both our Thame and Aylesbury studios.

We really do pride ourselves on the quality of our picture framing work. Our experienced framer has been trained by art conservationists on how to frame to preserve the life of the artwork. We have a range of glass to choose from and only use the best materials, which are acid free, to protect your artwork.

We’ve been framing your memories, paintings and prints for over thirty years across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Our highly skilled framer has been with us since the very beginning. And, as someone once said to me, “he could frame a piano!” – well I’m not sure about that, but he’s yet to come across a project he hasn’t been able to tackle.

We can frame all your memorabilia, art work and prints no matter the size or complexity. We also undertake frame repairs and restoration. And we’re just as happy providing you with a new mount or piece of glass, as we are creating a whole new frame for you.

We absolutely pride ourselves on the quality and care we take with our framing. Call us or pop in for a quote.

Our Art Restoration services are available from both our Thame and Aylesbury studios. Our picture restoration specialist, Heather Simpson, has been restoring fine art now for over 20 years, over which time she’s established a reputation as a highly accomplished practitioner who works to museum standards.

After studying fine art at Camberwell School of Art and textiles at Middlesex Polytechnic, Heather served an extensive apprentice in art restoration under her father, John Simpson.

During this time she developed a thorough understanding in all aspects of fine art restoration. She also specialised in the intricate and painstaking craft of restoring the sort of ornate frames and gilded mirrors that grace many a gallery and museum wall.

Her main interest is the conservation of paintings, both on canvas and on panel, but she’s equally skilled working with paper, embroidery and textiles, as well as on mirrors and frames.

Heather’s clients range from art galleries to private individuals, and her work can be anything from insurance commissions to in depth restoration of large private collections.

We’re delighted to partner with Heather to restore your art work to it’s former glory. Please note due to the popularity and specialist and detailed nature of Heather’s work then there can be a lead time of up to 12 months for your work to be complete. We can advise you when you come in and discuss your restoration project.
